Is it possible to get really small hydraulics that you could put on a 1:32 scale excavator or do I have to use servos? I've seen videos on youtube of large excavator models with real working hydraulics but they are very expensive and I just wouldn't have the space for it.

I'm not sure about hydraulics, I had looked for something like that when I was planning my 1:32 Hitachi zaxis 210 build but in the end I decided it would be much simpler to just use servos however it doesn't have the cool look of the large hydralic excavator models.
One thing I had considered was using the pneumatic rams from a model airplane struts but I didn't think I'd fit it all in. Hopefully I'll get some of those to test out some day to check how powerful they'd be, I wouldn't have high hopes to be honest.
