hi thanks for the reply and I used to have a 1/16 scaniya truck so I know the axles u mean ill give that some thought as was thinking alone the thought of 1/16 tank parts and driving front n back axles n still steering it like a tank slowing one side off the tracks down or opposite corners ? don't know if that would work thow or how to do that on the hand set controls, but that said there I a lot of room in this tractor front and back

It sounds like you have a good plan for the mechanical end of it. I think I get what you mean, so you'd slow say the front left track, speed up the front right track and the model would naturally bend at the joint in the middle without using a steering servo? I'm sure you could get that kind of four track individual control with a microcontroller, it shouldn't be too difficult. You'd just need to come up with some basic governing rule or equations to make sure you had good steering both while stopped and while moving. You could have a potentiometer in the central pivot giving feed back to the arduino so it knew whether it was straight or steering. There is probably standard RC components that do what you are describing but I don't know about them, I don't know much about standard RC components unfortunately. I really like your idea for that control, I wouldn't have taught of that. Here is an example of connecting your normal RC receiver to an arduino in case you're interested. With an arduino in the tractor I don't think you'd need more than two channels on your controller to achieve the drive.

Hi all, I am a service engineer in the oil and gas industry, I have been watching videos upon videos on r/c tractors lol looks like a lot of it is in Germany. I am hooked now and looking to start my own build but as usual it is never straight forward haha. I am mechanically minded so will have a lot of fun that way but looking at the control side of things seams complicated. Just knowing where to start with all the components like the xebee and arduinos lol. I think I will buy some components and play about first just to get my head around how things work. Anyways this is turning into a life story, away to do some ebaying ?? Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum.
I know the Arduino and Xbee route seems complicated at first but you can find code to do pretty much anything on the internet and also I'm trying to post my code to the website when I get it working properly. Also when you get a hang of these basic electronics you might think of other projects you could use them in, you're not just limited to RC tractors.

Hi, I'm John from Belgium via Cork Ireland, I've got alot of 1/32 stuff including a 1/32 Railway and lots of 1/32 trucks. Did you ever see the 1/32 trucks converted to RC? Do you live in Ireland? Do you ever go to the model show? Thanks for all your youtube videos. Regards JD.

Hi John and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a nice collection, by trucks do you mean like SIKU artic size or the smaller old fashioned trcuks? I coverted a siku R620 but it was based on the RC version so I bought the drive motor and added my own servos and other electronics. Here is a video I seen a post on a forum before about a small rc flatbed truck but can't find it now. Came across these axles while searching for it though, these are pretty cool www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=75985Yes I'm from Monaghan, I haven't been to any models shows. I never seem to get the time, is there a list of upcoming events anywhere?

Hi I have doing rc trucks etc for some 12 months and as my background is in agricultural engineering i am interested in making rc ag tractors so i have built a CAT challenger and a IH quad track all using tamiya 1/16 rc tank hard ware and a month i converted a bruder 1/16 John Deere combine harvester which i exhibited at the recent model show in Warwick which attracted a lot of interest so i have ordered a Class lexion to convert fantastic web site. Hi Ken,
Sounds like you have some impressive builds. We get a lot of questions about 1/16 scale conversions, any chance you'd start a thread to show us how you built your models?
