Hi The challenger tractor is scratch built using a Tamiya vintage 1/16 leopard tank off e bay i then dismantled it removed the drive system which had 2 steering clutches which i operated with a std servo the tracks fitted to a scratch built track frame with rear drive wheels made from hard wood with a groove in the center and 2mm soft rubber glued to drive the track. The drive system is driven by a single high torque Tamiya truck motor and a 7.2v battery from Component shop, a tamiya ESC spectrum receiver and dx6i radio. The bruder i used a tamiya 1/14 rear drive axle with a 6-9v mfa geared motor with tamiya ESC snd std servos for the unloader spout and a Firgelli 50mm linear actuator for the header with 3mm LED for cab lights again i used a spectrum receiver and dx6i radio .

That's very cool the leopard tank seems to have some really strong components and I like your idea with the soft rubber to catch the tracks, I might need to do something similar for my Komatsu PC400 tracks. What scale is the challenger tractor? The bigger scales give you much better options for motors, drive trains and linear actuators, you can do some great work provided it doesn't bankrupt you first

Hello all, my name is Andy and i'm from Hastings. I spent my early life on a farm. I used to love riding in the tractor cab with my dad as a nipper, or spending time riding in the combine cab on those hot, sunny days that seemed to last forever. Later i went to agricultural college and was soon driving tractors for myself, from little Fordson Dextas do huge John Deeres so as you see, i have a big affinity with tractors farm machinery. I used to have a lot of Britains farm stuff as a kid, and thought how wonderful it would be to see them moving along by themselves. Well that wasn't possible then, but these days, with all the tiny components and electronics available, it can now be done. I'm about to start my own build, so as soon as the stuff starts arriving i'll post a build in the appropriate section. Hope to see you all there!

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to hearing about your builds especially if you are working on Britains tractors as I haven't tried to convert a Britains model myself and I'm sure there will be some interesting challenges.

Hello, My name is Tomek, I live in Poland. Some time ago I decided to convert a toy into RC tractor and it in now ongoing project. Chosen scale is 1:32, most likely it will be SIKU John Deere 9650, maybe Case IH600 because those are big with planty of space inside. Before I start with a tractor I am building a controller using Arduino Leonardo and XBee.

Hi Tomek, welcome to the forum. Nice choice of models, the space on a siku 9560 is brilliant when compared to other models I've worked on like the Fendt 936. Good choice of radio module too, the XBee is expensive but very reliable.

Hi Everyone, I am a SW engineer with no hardware experience at all, my son who is mad about toy tractors (we already have a large collection of Britains and Sikus) found your site so our next project is to build our own rc tractors. At the moment I have just gotten my first Arduino and I am playing around with the basics but hopefully soon I will get down to the real work and I am sure I will have loads of questions then. Thanks for sharing all this stuff, it is very cool and my son and I are having great fun.
Thanks Rangin

Hi Rangin,
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have plenty of tractors to choose from before you start, that will help you figure out which will have the most space for the electronics. It will be great having a proper software guy looking over the code, I'm sure the code I wrote has many places where it can be improved.

Hello. I am very exited to build my own RC tractor and I'm thinking of doing a 1/32 scale Case Quad track but I am not sure on the steering, what I mean by that is I don't know how to connect the servos to anything?

Hi, I'm Derek from New Zealand. I was bought up in a farm and miss it, so decided to do something about it. I'm converting a Siku 1:32 Claas Axion 950 to radio control. I'll post some pictures soon, but it's going well so far. Learnt heaps, and heaps more to learn.
I've been buying most electronic parts from aliexpress.com. Cheap as chips direct from China. $3 for an arduino pro mini, $15 for 10x 9g mini servos, $12 for 10x n20 motors (US$).
Cheers

Welcome to the forum bstar2810 and derek. Case Quad Tracks and Class Axions must be the most popular tractors on the planet, everyone seems to want radio controlled versions of those models bstar2810 do you mean connect the servo wiring or physically connect the servo? derek looking forward to seeing pics of your build, be interesting to see how you do it. $12 for 10 n20 motors is amazing, can you post a link to that?
